Most AI assistants know who got nominated for Best Picture. Ask them who's going to win, and you get a confident-sounding answer built on vibes and outdated training data.
We built WaitingForMacGuffin to solve this for ourselves: a real-time Oscar prediction market tracker pulling live odds, whale trades, precursor awards, and order book data across all 19 Academy Award categories. Until now, that data lived on our website.
Today we're releasing it as an OpenClaw skill, so your AI agent can access it directly.
What changes for you
Instead of switching tabs to check odds or asking an AI that doesn't know current prices, you can ask your agent "What are the Best Picture odds?" or "Give me your best Oscar picks" and get an answer grounded in live market data.
What the skill connects to
- Live odds across 19 categories (updated continuously from Kalshi)
- Whale trade alerts for positions over $1,000
- Precursor award tracking (DGA, SAG, BAFTA, PGA, and more)
- Order book depth and slippage analysis
- Risk tiers with explicit win/loss probabilities and ROI calculations
The difference in practice
Without the skill, ask an AI agent "Should I take a position on Chalamet for Best Actor?" and you'll get something like:
"Timothee Chalamet is considered a strong contender for Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme. He has received critical acclaim and several nominations. However, Oscar races can be unpredictable..."
Generic. No prices, no data, no risk context.
With the skill installed, the same question returns:
"Chalamet is at 78c (78% implied probability), ranked #1 in Best Actor. He's up 4 points over 7 days, has won 3 precursor awards (Globe, CC, BAFTA), and whale money is bullish ($14K in YES volume). Risk tier: strong favorite. A $100 position pays $128 on a win. Gap to runner-up (Fiennes at 12c) is 66 points. Category volatility is low, tends to follow precursors."
Real numbers. Real context. Sourced from live markets, not training data.
How to install
If you run OpenClaw, install from ClawHub:
clawhub install waitingformacguffin
Or grab the skill file from our public GitHub repo: github.com/sonderspot/waitingformacguffin-public
No API keys required. All data is public and read-only.
Beta disclaimer
This is a limited-feature beta release. The skill connects to live market data, but bugs are possible and outputs should be verified independently. This is market intelligence, not financial advice. Use at your own discretion.
The skill is free and open. We built it because we wanted our own AI agent to have access to real Oscar market data instead of guessing. If you find it useful, let us know what's working and what isn't.
